Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) is a pioneer Engineering and Manufacturing organization established in the year of 1964 by Government of India. Since its inception, the organization grew many-fold and is catering to core sectors of Indian economy viz Power, Transportation, Oil & Gas etc. BHEL is having seventeen manufacturing facilities and multitude service centers spread across India and Overseas.
BHEL started manufacturing of Gearboxes for Gas turbine applications based on an MOU & Rate contract with M/s Flender Graffenstaden (FG) of France in the year 1991. The Tie up continued until 2012 and technology transfer in terms of drawings & manufacturing processes took place. The technical knowhow absorbed over the years culminated into BHELs self-reliance in design, manufacturing, testing, site installation and Services of Gearboxes.
BHEL started manufacturing 1st Gear box for Gas Turbine application in 1996. There was no looking back after that & BHEL manufactured more than 100 accessory gearboxes for Gas turbine application and more than 90 load gearboxes of different power rating from 10 MW to 90 MW.
The Gearboxes manufactured by BHEL have been exported & have been giving excellent performance.
BHEL started in-house design and development of gearboxes for STG application from 2014 and supplied thirteen gearboxes of nine variants with power ranging from 1 MW to 43 MW and input speed ranging from 5000 RPM to 11000 RPM.
BHEL designed and manufactured a prototype model for BFP application with gearbox rating of 1500 KW, speed Reducer (5000/1495 RPM) as per AGMA 6011 standard with service factor 2.0 minimum. The prototype gearbox is successfully tested in BHEL on 04.01.2022.
All parameters are well within acceptable limit.
BHEL also designed and developed gearboxes for other applications such as Air-cooled Condenser application, Fan application, Gearbox for Sucker Rod Pump application. BHEL is also working on different type of gearboxes for defence application.
BHEL has rich experience of design, manufacturing and service after sales of gearboxes for power plant application since 1996 onwards. BHEL has in-house capability for design and manufacture of any tailor made gearbox for any type of application such as for power plant, cement industries, defence application.
BHEL provides complete support for after sales spares and service support including troubleshooting activities to its esteemed customers since 1996 for both BHEL make and non-BHEL make gearboxes.
BHEL can take up development of Gearboxes under the Atma-Nirbhar Bharat, as a part of its responsibility.
